Congratulations to Dr. Justin Wolter, whose research project entitled « Characterizing the Proteomic Landscape of Selective Neuronal Vulnerability in ARSACS » has been selected for funding by the National Ataxia Foundation. Dr. Wolter has been awarded a one-year research grant of $50,000 to continue his work on ARSACS.
Here is his research’s lay summary: In many ataxias certain neurons are vulnerable and die while others survive. We will use advanced proteomic technologies to investigate selective neuronal vulnerability in ARSACS, with the goal of discovering protective pathways that could lead to new treatments for ARSACS and related ataxias.
