This project focuses on the production and biophysical characterization of engineered Trojan Sacsin fragments to study protein stability and specific functional features of the protein. Trojan fragments can penetrate human cells allowing us to examine the Sacsin pieces in the biological environment, independently of the protein translation process, and bypassing the co-translational protein degradation. We will set up a platform for Sacsin fragment expression that will be fully available for the ARSACS research community for long-term projects the next year.
